Judge Michael L. Offner and his wife Jan with the 2009 Distinguished Judge Award
Judge Offner was sworn into office on March 31, 2001 and appointed by Gov. Mike Johanns. He practiced law in Red Cloud from 1979 until his appointment. He served as Webster County Attorney for 18 years. He also was the city attorney for the City of Blue Hill and was the staff attorney for Midland Area Agency on Aging for 20 years.
Judge Offner’s family includes his wife Janet, son Drew and his wife Marsha, son Adam and his wife Darah, and his five grandchildren, Faith Elizabeth, Levi Elliott, Devon Michael, Rose Elaine and Caleb Miles.
Recipient of the 2009 Nebraska Distinguished Judge for the Improvement of the Judiciary Award, given to a judge who has distinguished himself through contributions to the improvement of the judicial system; service as a trial judge; or promotion of judicial efficiency. The award is the highest honor given by the Chief Justice to recognize member of the judiciary for meritorious projects and exemplary accomplishments that enhance the vision of justice within Nebraska communities.
