Tenth Judicial District County Courts of Nebraska
Marriages Performed in the 10th Judicial District
Nebraska law provides that every judge, retired judge, or clerk magistrate and every preacher of the gospel authorized by the usages of the church may perform the marriage ceremony in this state.

For all County Courts except Adams County:

The Magistrates are willing to perform marriage ceremonies during regular office hours of their respective courts. Couples need to contact the Magistrate of the court of the county in which they want to be married. This notice should be made well in advance of the anticipated date. If the schedule of both the court and the Magistrate allow, arrangements will be arranged for the ceremony. There will no charge for the marriage ceremony as long as it is made during office hours. The ceremony will be held at the court. Couples must provide two witnesses to sign the marriage license. Couples must obtain the marriage license prior to the ceremony.

If the couple want the ceremony to be conducted at a location away from the Courthouse, then a Magistrate or Judge may agree to perform the ceremony. However, please be aware that the Magistrates and Judges are not required to perform these marriage ceremonies. Date, time and place of the ceremony need to be made with the couple. A fee, including mileage, may be charged by the Magistrate or Judge and must be arranged prior to the ceremony. Couples must provide two witnesses to sign the marriage license. Couples must obtain the marriage license prior to the ceremony.

For Adams County Court:

Excluding legal holidays, a Judge of the Adams County Court will conduct scheduled civil marriage ceremonies at 8:00am on the second Monday of each month. You must schedule your wedding with Adams County Court personnel. You must provide two witnesses to sign the marriage license. Couples must obtain the marriage license prior to the ceremony. All participants must be present at 8:00am. If an interpreter is needed, the couple must make arrangements for an interpreter who is acceptable to the court. Please be aware that there may be a delay since prior hearings will be conducted by the Judge, as it will be a regular business day for the court.

If the couple want the ceremony to be conducted at a location away from the Courthouse, then the Adams County Magistrate or a Judge may agree to perform the ceremony. However, please be aware that the Adams County Magistrate and Judges are not required to perform these marriage ceremonies. Date, time and place of the ceremony need to be made with the couple and the Magistrate or Judge. A fee, including mileage, may be charged by the Adams County Magistrate or Judge and must be arranged prior to the ceremony. Couples must provide two witnesses to sign the marriage license. Couples must obtain the marriage license prior to the ceremony.

The Adams County Magistrate will also perform civil marriage ceremonies after 5:00 pm on weekdays in the Supervisors Meeting Room of the Adams County Courthouse for a fee. Arrangements need to be made with Magistrate Hawes for these after hour, non courtroom ceremonies.
